Maureen Gallace: Paintings on Paper
American Art Catalogues is pleased to present Paintings on Paper by Maureen Gallace. Surveying over sixty acrylic works on paper created between 2010 and 2024, this 142 page monograph offers an intimate look at an important although less-seen side of Gallace’s practice. Over the years, the use of paper has evolved from preparatory studies and private works to what is now a notable medium for Gallace, as is presented here. Developed in close collaboration with the artist, this hardcover book captures an essence of the works’ small scale and tactility.
Gallace is known for her painterly, distinctive works, often viewed through traditions of landscape, Modern, and American painting. Her imagery centers on modest architectural structures—houses, sheds, shacks—along with their surrounding environs such as New England Beaches.
In conjunction with the release of Paintings on Paper, American Art Catalogues will host a special presentation of Gallace’s work and a book signing this October.
