American Art Catalogues is pleased to present In Media Res, a presentation of ten new works by New York-based painter Phillip Gabriel.

Phillip John Velasco Gabriel (b. 1983 Jacksonville, FL) is a Filipino-American painter living and working in New York. A graduate of Cooper Union (2007), Phillip’s work has been subject to numerous group and solo exhibitions, such as In Media Res, American Art Catalogues (forthcoming, New York, NY) 2024; Dream Journal (Group, New York, NY) 2023; Window Maker, American Art Catalogues (Presentation, New York, NY) 2023; Horizon Art Foundation (Residency, Los Angeles, CA) 2022; Mahler & LeWitt Studios (Residency, Spoleto, Italy) 2022; Phillip Gabriel, AND NOW (Solo, Dallas, TX) 2022; Vigilator, Ramiken (Solo, New York, NY) 2021, Phillip Gabriel, AND NOW (Solo, Dallas, TX) 2020; 389, Ramiken (Group, New York NY) 2021; Eidolons, Ramiken (Solo, New York, NY) 2019; Lentils (not Spaghetti), Ramiken (Group, New York NY) 2017.

In February 2023, American Art Catalogues published Window Maker, the first monograph of the artists’ work with a foreword by curator Christopher Lew.
