From the publisher: This catalogue has been edited on the occasion of the exhibition “Bright Dark Future” presented at the Confort Moderne from 14 March to 18 August 2013.
It is about the first solo exhibition of Marianne Vitale in France. It presents a grouping of ten sculptures for which she imagined an interpretation of the solar system. After a visit to the Confort Moderne and the passing of Hurricane Sandy which ravaged New York, Marianne Vitale decided to work on a modelization and interpretation of the solar system. The exhibition brings together a group of sculptures: Venus, Mercury, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto and the Sun. The artist recycled forms that she had alredy used (stele, architecture) in new assemblages, while avoiding her use of recycled wood in order to give a freer interpretation to each of the planets.
